2/28/2024

The role of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CBBH) in the process of European integration, especially in the case of starting the negotiations between BH and the European Union, is extremely important, and on that path the CBBH greatly contributes through the implementation of its activities, primarily in the field of payment systems and the production of statistical data, this was pointed out during the meeting between Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ambassador Johann Sattler and the Governor of the CBBH Jasmina Selimović, Ph.D.

During Ambassador Sattler's visit to the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in his discussion with Governor Selimović, special attention was paid to the project of including BH in the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA), which covers the countries of the Western Balkans, and for which the CBBH has the support of the EU. As the process of joining the SEPA and linking with the EU payment systems is of essential importance for the development of payment systems, and in general for the economy of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the CBBH continuously carries out activities on the preparation and construction of the necessary infrastructure and participates in all activities with other institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina necessary for the realization of the European path when it comes to joining SEPA.

The official statistics produced by the CBBH are of exceptional importance on BH's path towards the EU. By regularly publishing macroeconomic estimates and numerous statistical data, the CBBH strives to contribute to better informing of Bosnia and Herzegovina public, and economic entities, as well as of numerous international institutions and potential investors in BH.

Ambassador Sattler supported the activities of the CBBH and pointed out the importance of its independence and integrity of the Currency Board for the financial sector, BH economy and the country as a whole.
