Replacement of damaged KM banknotes and coins

Central Bank replaces the damaged KM banknotes and coins, if they meet the conditions for the replacement pursuant to the By-law on the Procedure with Banknotes and Coins of Convertible Mark and Foreign Currency Banknotes which are Unfit for Circulation.

The exchange of banknotes that have been withdrawn from circulation and ceased to be legal tender as of January 1, 2025

The Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina has withdrawn from circulation bankotes of KM 10, KM 20, KM 50, and KM 100 denominations, put into circulation in the period from 1998 to 2009

The exchange of banknotes in 2025 is carried out in commercial banks in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

After the expiration of the replacement period in commercial banks, the replacement will be performed by the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina within a period of 10 years, starting from January 1, 2026, and ending on December 31, 2035.
