5/23/2016

On 23 May 2016, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Bosnia and Herzegovina, H.E. Mr. Seyed Hossein Rajabi and his associates visited the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CBBH), where he met with the CBBH Governor Senad Softić, Ph.D.

Iranian Ambassador informed the Governor Softić about the intensified cooperation of Iran with the European and world countries, after withdrawal of the sanctions to this country. IR Iran is also interested in the renewal of economic cooperation with BH. In terms of this, the Ambassador informed the Governor about the obstacles which the Islamic Republic of Iran has been encountering in Bosnia-Herzegovina, even after sanctions’ withdrawal, mentioning that BH still has not withdrawn sanctions to this country, and that the obstacles for cooperation and implementation of potential future projects also exist in the banking sphere.

Before the introduction of sanctions to Iran, the most of Iran's imports from Bosnia and Herzegovina was related to the import of coke, the Ambassador said, adding that there is an interest of this country to import bauxite and to invest into the tourism sector. A prerequisite for the future cooperation is to provide the payment transactions and bank guarantees between potential partners from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Islamic Republic of Iran.

Governor Softić stressed that the CBBH, within its legal possibilities, will do what it is necessary to make possible the economic cooperation between two countries.
