The World Bank continues to support the activities of the Central Bank of  Bosnia and Herzegovina (CBBH) related to the modernization of the payment systems in Bosnia and Herzegovina, particularly the activities aimed at BH joining Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA), as highlighted during the meeting between CBBH officials and representatives of the World Bank, who visited as part of a mission to strengthen the financial sector in BH.

During the discussions, it was emphasized that these strategic projects are among the most important initiatives in the area of Bosnia and Herzegovina economic integration with the European Union, and that it is expected that, in addition to significant benefits for the economy, those will also provide benefits for citizens, companies, and BH institutions – including reduced costs of cross-border payments, improved connectivity with the diaspora, and increased foreign investments.

Both, the CBBH and the World Bank agree that these projects have long-term significance for improving the payment systems, strengthening economic integration with the EU, as well as modernizing the overall financial infrastructure in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
