Vice Governor of the CBBH Marko Vidaković, M.Sc. Attended the Annual General Assembly of the BIS 7/1/2025 Tweet The Vice Governor of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CBBH), Marko Vidaković, M.Sc., participated in the 95th Annual General Assembly of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), which was held on 28 and 29 June 2025 in Basel, Switzerland. Two topics, trade tensions and digital transformation, were dominating at this event, which brings together the leaders of the central banks of the BIS member states and other central banks, as well as representatives of the international financial community. On this occasion, the BIS Annual Economic Report for 2025 was presented, which assesses the state of the global economy and considers key policy challenges. The report also includes analyses of the financial system changes and overview of the design of a future monetary and financial system which is open to innovation and new opportunities, while preserving confidence in money, which is crucial for economic stability. It has been particularly pointed out that trade tensions and uncertainty overshadow the global economy, which requires careful calibration of central bank policies. The BIS has also published its Annual Report, presenting the key activities and financial results for 2024/25. The past year marked the completion of a several years long strategic programme – BIS Innovation, with a clear goal of shaping the Bank for tomorrow. This strategy has been described as a strategy that has transformed the Bank, based on a previously defined vision and an ambitious plan of change. In addition to a series of discussions with senior officials from the BIS, central banks and international financial institutions, Vice Governor Vidaković also attended the BIS Annual Conference, which is traditionally held during the annual meeting, with a panel discussion on current topics in the banking community. This year, the topic of the panel was “The International Monetary System: Development at a Crossroads.” “The Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina is a shareholder of the Bank for International Settlements and has been actively participating in the work of this oldest international financial institution for many years. Membership in the BIS provides us with access to valuable analyses, exchange of knowledge and experience with other central banks, as well as participation in discussions on strategic issues shaping the global financial system. Our continued presence and contribution to the work of the BIS confirms the CBBH’s commitment to strengthening international cooperation, preserving monetary stability and improving institutional resilience in accordance with the highest international standards,” said Vice Governor Vidaković. The BIS was founded in 1930 and has several key roles, the most important of which are the safe investment of the foreign exchange reserves of member banks and the strengthening of international financial cooperation, in particular through dialogue among financial institutions to promote financial stability. The CBBH continues to actively participate in the work of the BIS and, with the additional exchange of experiences and knowledge among central bankers from around the world, further strengthens international financial cooperation and stability.
