An important step in international financial relations:CBBH Governor with the Vice Chair of the Fed

During her stay in Washington, D.C. where she participates in the Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, the Governor of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CBBH), Jasmina Selimović, Ph.D. and her associates visited the Fed - the central bank of the United States, and on this occasion had a bilateral meeting with the Vice Chair of the Federal Reserve, Mr. Phillip Jefferson.

This has been the first time in the history of the CBBH that its senior officials have a direct meeting with one of the highest level officials of the US Federal Reserve, an institution that has a central role in shaping the global monetary policy. This meeting has an exceptional reputational significance and is a recognition of the CBBH as a serious, stable and professional partner in international financial environment. Holding a meeting at this level contributes to strengthening the dignity and institutional credibility of the CBBH, and sends a clear message about its capacity to participate in discussions with the highest representatives of global financial authorities.

Governor Selimović and Mr. Jefferson discussed the importance of preserving the independence of the CBBH, as well as aspects of future cooperation, through forms of technical assistance, exchange of knowledge and increasing the institutional capacities of the CBBH. During the meeting, the Governor stressed that stable and predictable monetary policy remains a key pillar of Bosnia and Herzegovina's economic development, and that the CBBH continues to consistently implement the currency board policy, which is the foundation of the country's macroeconomic stability.

The meeting with the Board of the Federal Reserve System, which was attended by Governor Selimović, and also by the Member of the Governing Board of the CBBH, Darko Tomaš, Ph.D. and Vice Governor of the CBBH, Marko Vidaković, M.Sc., was an opportunity to exchange opinions on the current global monetary trends, as well as on the challenges resulting from the changing macroeconomic environment. The discussions focused on the measures taken by central banks in order to preserve the financial system stability and support sustainable economic growth.

On this occasion, Governor Selimović officially invited Vice Chair Jefferson to participate in the celebration of the significant jubilee, 30 years of existence and work of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which will take place in 2027.
