Meetings of the CBBH delegation with senior officials of the IMF and the WB Group in Washington D.C.

The delegation of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CBBH), led by Governor Jasmina Selimović, Ph.D., met with a number of senior officials of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank as a part of the Spring Meetings held in Washington, D.C.

Views were exchanged on current macroeconomic trends, increasing financial and monetary stability, and improving cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and these two international financial institutions.

At the meetings with the IMF representatives, the CBBH delegation talked with Bo Li, Deputy Managing Director. Governor Selimović presented her view of future economic developments in the context of increasing geopolitical effects on global economy, while Li focused on the initiative for the establishment of the SEETAC in Rome, and asked for an active contribution of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The IMF officials Bo Lee, as well as Alfred Kammer, Director of the European Department, and Executive Director Jeroen Clicq, pointed out that such a center would provide the Western Balkan countries with access to technical assistance, training and advisory support, and would contribute to significantly strengthening institutional capacities in the areas of monetary policy, financial stability and supervision.

The CBBH delegation also discussed the continuation of support for development projects and economic reforms in Bosnia and Herzegovina with representatives of the World Bank, Eugen Rhuggenaath, Executive Director and Antonella Bassani, Vice President of the Europe and Central Asia Region.

Governor Selimović informed them about the activities on capacity building and modernisation of the financial sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina with the aim of joining SEPA. Selimović emphasized the importance of the RAS advisory project as well as other support provided by the World Bank to our country in this process.

In the coming days, the CBBH delegation will have a series of bilateral meetings with representatives of central banks, participate in meetings on financial education, digital fraud and other important topics.
