Governor Selimović at the World Economic Forum in Washington, D.C. 4/16/2026 Tweet The Governor of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Prof. Jasmina Selimović, Ph.D., at the invitation of the world leading expert in the field of financial education, Prof. Annamaria Lusardi, participated in a round table on the role of financial education in strengthening monetary policies, organised by the World Economic Forum in Washington, D.C. The Governor of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Prof. Jasmina Selimović, Ph.D., at the invitation of the world leading expert in the field of financial education, Prof. Annamaria Lusardi, participated in a round table on the role of financial education in strengthening monetary policies, organised by the World Economic Forum in Washington, D.C. During the discussion, it was emphasised that financial literacy should be systematically included in the economic decision-making processes and the long-term financial system development. The importance of strengthening institutional coordination among central banks, educational institutions and the financial sector was particularly emphasised. The Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as pointed out by Governor Selimović, does not perceive financial education as informing the public, but as a structural element of the development of financial and educational systems. "We are currently moving from a project-based to an institutionalised, sustainable and systemic approach to financial education aimed at Bosnia and Herzegovina obtaining its own financial literacy strategy, with the necessary inclusion of financial education in educational curricula," said the Governor. The invitation to participate in this important international event is proof of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina's strategic commitment and engagement in the field of financial education, with a special focus on improving the financial literacy of young people, developing educational programs in the education system, and strengthening cooperation with domestic and international partners. Annamaria Lusardi, a renowned professor of economics and accounting at Stanford University, in March 2025 supported the initiative of the Central Bank of BH for the integration of financial education in primary, secondary and higher education, as well as the importance of Bosnia and Herzegovina's participation in the PISA test for 2029.
